Consolidating sallie mae loans and direct loans

Do I have to be with Direct Loan Services in order to get the in the new 10-year loan forgiveness program for those in public service jobs? Also, does anyone know of any reason NOT to consolidate the two loans into one loan with Direct Loan Services?

When you have a Direct Loan issued by the federal government and a loan through Sallie Mae, you might be able to consolidate them depending on what type of Sallie Mae loan you have.
This is not a Stafford Loan from the federal government, but rather a loan that you got from Sallie Mae on your own initiative.
